ESTABLISHMENT /
ORGANISATIONAL SET UP : Second Battalion
Mizoram Armed Police (2nd Bn.MAP)is one of the
Units of Mizoram Police under Home Department.It
was initially set up with a strength of 2(two)
Companies vide Govt. of Mizoram L/No. A.12125 /
1 / 82-HMP,dt.23.12.1982.The company was
initially attached and functioned under 1st
Bn.MAP for a period of 4(four) years.
Full fledged strength viz.2nd Bn.MAP was
sanctioned by Govt. of Mizoram vided letter
No.A.12028 / 1 / 82- HMP, dt
9.10.1987.Luangmual, Lunglei was then selected
as a location for Battalion Headquaters.The
office was then shifted from Aizawl to Lunglei
on 27.4.1988.The office building of SDPO Lunglei
located at Chanmary was temporarily utilized as
Commandant’s office.It was finally shifted to
the present location of the
Bn.Headquarters,Luangmual on 6.3.1989 and is
functioning here till today since then.
Presently, the Bn. Has different Branches of
offices thet deal different works as under :

Administration Branch 4. Record
Branch 5. Quarter Master Branch
6. Motor Transport Branch
7. Training Branch 8. Arms
Kote Branch
DEVELOYMENT OF STAFFS:
There is no specified area jurisdiction to be
covered by 2nd Bn.MAP for performing duty. The
staff can be deployed anywhere in Mizoram and
even outside Mizoram as decided by the
authority. Presently, forced are mostly deployed
to the Southern four Districts of Mizoram viz.
Lunglei, Saiha, Lawngtlai and Serchhip. About 1
( one ) Platoon each are deployed in the Sadar
Police stations of the above District Hqrs. As
re-enforce staff apart from their deployment as
static guards at SBI, Treasury etc.
POLICE
HOSPITAL / HEALTH CARE : There is Police
Hospital at Bn.Hqrs, Luangmual and it provide
healthcare to Police personnels and their
families as well as the nearby residents of
different localities. The hospital staff is 10
bedded strength.
PIPE BAND: The Bn.MAP
owned one Pipe Band Party. It is the first of
its kind in southern part Mizoram. The Band has
been benefitted by a couble of Schools and other
Police Battalions in forming their own Pipe Band
after imparting training on them. The Bn.Band
party , in particular, has been playing pivot
role during ceremonial functions at different
parts of the state since its establishment. It
can be hired on payment of the hiring rate as
per existing rate fixed by the Bn.office.
RECREATIONAL FEATURE:
(a) There is playground cum Parade Ground at Bn.
Hqrs where sports discipline like Track & Field
items, Hockey, Volley Ball and Football can be
played. A Hall wherein Indoor Games like
Badminton and Table Tennis are played are played
is also available inside the Bn. Complex.
(b) A well- organized teams of Football,
Volleyball, Boxing, Athletic and other Indoor
games are also in existence with the Bn. The
Bn.Sports personnels achieved recognizable
results in various Sports discipline since its
establishment as a Battalion.
DISASTER RESPONSE TEAM: As
per decition and order of the Govt/ Police
Headquarter, a company strength called Disaster
Response Team had been provisionally formed by
the Bn.But the team is yet to undergo
specialized training as and when arrangement is
made from the Government. Equipment are also yet
to be received. Two days Training on the subject
was organized atathe Bn.Hqrs on 27/8/09 where
Dr.Lalrokima Chenkual, Associate Professor, ATI
was the resourse person.
EDUCATION: There is 1 (one) each of
Government Primary and Middle School inside
Battalion Headquarter Luangmual. An English
Medeum School has been established from the
academic session of 2007 with the contributions
of all employees under 2nd Bn.MAP with a hope to
bring quality education to Police Children as
well as children of nearby localities. The
school has classes from KG-1 to Class – VII and
is temporarily accommodated in one of the Police
Buildings inside the Bn.Complex.
GENERAL WELFARE:
a) There is an Unit owned PCO / Telephone Booth
inside Bn.Hqrs near Main Gate which can be used
by Police personnels and civilians.
b) There is an Dry Canteen inside Bn.Hqrs.
complex where essential commodities are sold.
There are also 2( two) Wet Canteens where one
can find refreshments and carerings during
office hours.
c) There is one Public Water drinking point at
the heart of Bn.Headquarters alongside the Main
road.
d) Essential commodities like Rice, Sugar,
Kerosene oil and cooking Gas etc are routinely
given / sold to Police families from Battalion
run store.
e) There is a Carpentry Workshop cum Saw- Mill
where wooden furniture can be ordered with
reasonable price. Blacksmithy is also available
with the Bn.
f) Dairy Farm is also available wherein cattle
of good breed are rared. Good quality milk is
sufficiently supplied to Police families by this
Farm.
RTI ACT: 2nd Bn.MAP is one the Armed
Police Battalions in Mizoram presently,
Commandant, 2nd Bn.MAP is SPIO and Pu
R.Lalkailuia, Dy, Commandant is SAPIO. To assist
SPIO and SAPIO, all Branch head in 2nd Bn. MAP
have been appointed as ‘ Dealing officer’ to
take care of matters relating to RTI Act. The
Dy. Inspector General of Police (Northern Range
), Police Headquarter, Aizawl is the DAA / First
Appellate Authority for 2nd Bn. MAP office.
